Summer is in full swing and July is the perfect time to slow down, soak up the sunshine, and dive into a great book.

Kate is back helping Denise, our Youth Services librarian, with the Summer Reading program, and Abby and Maren are helping out in the library with special library projects and events and other library duties. Los Angeles, California, a city that hosted the Summer Olympics twice in 1932 and 1984 and will host again in 2028. The 1932 Summer Olympics and 1984 Summer Olympics helped shape the modern Olympic Games in exciting ways.
The 1932 Games introduced major innovations like the first Olympic Village and the use of photo finished cameras and automatic timing. The 1984 Games brought new energy and excitement featuring star athletes like Carl Lewis, who won four gold medals and helped make the Olympics financially successful again. This event will provide students in grades K through 8 with different STEAM related activities. STEAM stands for science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The library will provide a Hands on Braille activity for the students.
We are excited to be part of this event for the fourth year in a row.
