The victim is Warren Jacoby, Lindsay's one time partner who rose to chief of police.
A top investigator until the end, Jacoby managed to leave Lindsay a clue.
Following a trail of evidence along the west coast, the Women's Murder Club pledges to avenge Jacoby's death before the killer can take another one of their own. Nightshade DB 30298 by Michael Conley Los Angeles County Sheriff's Detective Stillwell has been exiled to a low key post policing rustic Catalina island after department politics drove him off a homicide desk on the mainland. But while following up the usual drunken disorlies and petty thefts that come with the new territory, Detective Stillwell gets a report of a body found way down at the bottom of the harbor, a Jane Doe, identifiable at first only by a streak of purple dye in her hair at the time. A report of poaching on a protective reserve turns into a case fraught with violence and danger as Stillwell digs into the shady past of an island bangwig, crossing all lines of protocol and jurisdiction, Stilwell doggedly works both cases. Though hampered by an old beef with an ex colleague determined to thwart him at every turn, he is convinced he is the only one who can bring justice to the woman known as Nightshade.
Soon his investigation uncovers closely guarded secrets and a dark heart to the serene island that was meant to be his escape from the evils of the big city.
Hidden Star DB 127136 by Nora Roberts Private eye Cade Parris takes one look at the beautiful blonde who walks unannounced into his office and falls in love. Unfortunately, Bailey James is there to hire him. Fragile and clearly vulnerable, she doesn't even know who she is. Nor does she know why she's carrying a tote bag filled with more than a million dollars in cash, a pistol and a priceless blue diamond. Hidden Nature DB12 9760 by Nora Roberts Natural Resources Police officer Sloane Cooper and her partner had just taken down three men preying on hikers in the western Maryland mountains.
Driving back, she pulled into a convenience store and walked right into a robbery in progress. One gunshot from a jittery thief was about to change her world.
After being shocked back to life on the operating table, she has a long recovery ahead. So she moves back to her parents peaceful house and herons rest.
As for the boyfriend who dumped her via text while she was in the hospital, good riddance.
She may be down, but she's not out. So when a woman vanishes, leaving her car behind in a supermarket parking lot, Sloan searches online for similar cases.
She finds them spread across three states. Men and women, old and young. The missing seem to have nothing in common, and the abductions keep happening. Luckily, the new man in her life shares her passion for solving this mystery.
But it will take every ounce of endurance to get to the dark heart of this bizarre case, and she's willing to risk her life again if that's what it takes to stop the horror.

Without guardians and stability, Charlie and Molly find an unexpected ally and protector in Ignatius Oliver in solace at his bookshop, the Bookkeep, where a book a day keeps the bombs away. Mourning the recent loss of his wife, Ignatius forms a kinship with both children and in each other. Over the course of the greatest armed conflict the world had ever seen, they rediscover the spirit of family each has lost.
