[00:00:16] Speaker A: Greetings readers. Welcome to the 1 July edition of Library News. This month we discuss summer programming, the top 10 fiction books on Bard and NLS events, and more.
Our Youth Summer Reading program is off to a great start and June was a busy month full of activities exploring the Pacific Northwest, the deserts of the Southwest, the Rocky Mountains and the Great Lakes. Learn more about the summer reading program at IowaLibrary blog. Another exciting library program began last month as well. A Thrive Thursdays for Teens in the Summer Leap program kicked off on June 19.
They learned about space and coding and hosted guests from Spock's Sanctuary, a reptile and amphibian rescue. We look forward to many more guests this month.
[00:01:06] Speaker B: The National Library Service is hosting another great summer reading program this summer. It kicked off in June with a great program with author Mac Barnett reading his book extra yarn. DB127239 On July 14th at 6pm, MasterChef Christine Ha will Tell Her Story When Christine ha won the third season of MasterChef, she was the first blind contestant on the show. Join NLS and Christine for a night of conversation about cooking, reading and everything in between.
On July 24th at 6pm, musician Jono Manson will entertain with his music and and lighthearted stories. Find out what he's got planned for his next project. These programs are all held via Zoom and registration is required. Go to IowaLibrary blog for the complete schedule and register for the events.

[00:13:17] Speaker C: Promises this summer the Instructional Materials center is conducting a course for Iowa educators. The IMC101 summer course for educators ran for two weeks in June with the goal of educating the participants about the Instructional Material center, accessible educational materials, ordering the materials, and much more.
The course will run again in July for two weeks.
[00:13:40] Speaker A: On Friday, July 25, the library will participate again in Steam on the Ridge in the Oak Ridge neighborhood in Des Moines. This event will provide students in kindergarten through 8th grade with different STEAM related activities. STEAM stands for science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The library will provide a Hands on Braille activity for the students. We are excited to be part of this event.
